Dallas Summer Musicals presents On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio & Gloria Estefan
Christie Prades, Adriel Flete, and Company of On Your Feet tour. Photo by Matthew Murphy
From their humble beginnings in Cuba, Emilio and Gloria Estefan came to America and broke through all barriers to become a crossover sensation at the very top of the pop music world. But just when they thought they had it all, they almost lost everything.
From international superstardom to life-threatening tragedy, On Your Feet! takes you behind the music and inside the real story of this record-making and groundbreaking couple who, in the face of adversity, found a way to end up on their feet.
Directed by two-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots), with choreography by Olivier Award winner Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys) and an original book by Academy Award® winner Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman), On Your Feet! features some of the most iconic songs of the past quarter-century — and one of the most inspiring stories in music history.

Crow Collection of Asian Art presents "Earthly Splendor: Korean Ceramics from the Collection" closing day
Bottle, Lee In Chin (b. 1957) Photo courtesy of Crow Collection of Asian Art
This exhibition pairs outstanding examples of contemporary and historical Korean ceramics from the museum’s permanent collection to highlight the material, aesthetic, stylistic and technical developments of them throughout history.
The museum’s Korean art collection consists of works ranging from stone sculptures to a small selection of paintings, furniture, chests, boxes, bronze mirrors and other examples of decorative art. The majority, however, are ceramics. Of these ceramics, the museum is fortunate to have a rich variety of stoneware from the early Three Kingdoms period (57 BCE-935 CE), celadon wares from the Goryeo dynasty (918-1392), porcelains from the Joseon dynasty (1392-1910), as well as works by contemporary ceramicists.
The breadth of the museum’s permanent collection allows for direct comparison of these aesthetic transformations across time.

George W. Bush Presidential Center presents "First Ladies: Style of Influence"
Photo courtesy of George W. Bush Presidential Center
The Bush Center will present a new special exhibit, “First Ladies: Style of Influence.” This exhibit examines how the role of the first lady has evolved over time, and how first ladies have used their position to advance diplomacy and other social, cultural, and political initiatives.
The impact of first ladies, including Laura Bush, Barbara Bush, Dolley Madison, Michelle Obama, and Eleanor Roosevelt, will be viewed through themes presented in the Bush Institute's landmark research report, A Role Without a Rulebook: The Influence and Leadership of Global First Ladies. Visitors will explore how American first ladies have served as hostess, teammate, champion, and policy advocate, all within the context of the changing American political and cultural landscape.
In addition to rare photographs and historic documents, artifacts on display will include Eleanor Roosevelt's black evening gown, Dolley Madison's snuff box, and Lou Hoover’s original Girl Scout uniform and Cine-Kodak movie camera. As their stories unfold, visitors will learn the challenges and rewards of a position that is re-imagined by each person who holds it.

Dallas Symphony Orchestra presents My DSO Concert
Photo courtesy of Dallas Symphony Orchestra
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra will present their third annual My DSO Concert, a free concert specially designed for children and adults on the autism spectrum and with developmental disabilities, and their families, friends and caregivers.
Prior to the performance, representatives from many partner organizations and local outreach groups will be on hand for a resource fair. Patrons will be able to interact with musical instruments at an instrument petting zoo and participate in a music therapy experience provided by “Sing Your Way Home.”
The performance will not vary from a traditional orchestra concert programmatically, but arrangements will be made to accommodate the individual needs of people with acute sensitivities. Fidgets, ear plugs and eye covers will be available to help prevent overstimulation, and “quiet rooms” will be set aside in case the music becomes overwhelming; the performance will also be broadcast via television monitors on the lower level of the Meyerson. House lights will be set to a brighter level. There will also be remarks from the stage to welcome the audience and introduce the music.
After the performance, patrons are invited to stay for a reception with light refreshments presented by The Eugene McDermott Scholars Program Alumni Association. Audiences can meet each other as well as musicians of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
