Esketamine (Spravato), a derivative of ketamine, was approved by the FDA in 2019 to help with treatment resistant depression and suicidal ideation occurring in the context of Major Depressive Disorder.
Both ketamine and esketamine (Spravato) could be potential treatment options if you are dealing with mood symptoms that do not sufficiently respond with standard treatment (such as medications and therapy).
